USA: A teacher accused of having sex with two students does not refute the charges

The teacher, who was fired and is currently on bail, could be sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Laura Ramos, a 32-year-old special education ex-teacher who in 2017 was charged with sexual assault in the second degree for having sex with two of her students, as well as for violating a protection order, has not refuted the accusations on Monday in the Superior Court of Connecticut (USA), inform local media.



"Do you think the State has enough evidence to expose you to the risk of being convicted?" Judge Robert Devlin asked Ramos, who responded with a brief "probably." In June of last year the woman denied the accusations against her. However, the defendant later admitted having had sex with the 18-year-old boy in his car "a handful of times" between December 2016 and April 2017.




A police report revealed that the school where Ramos worked contacted the authorities after a teacher learned, through a student, that the teacher, allegedly, was having sex with one of his students to whom he referred. in text messages like "your boy".




Ramos, who was dismissed from her job after being arrested and who is currently on bail, could be sentenced to 5 years in prison on January 25, when the sentence is handed down on her case.

The Fed is widely expected to start raising interest rates around mid-year and investors were expecting the U.S. central bank to drop its reference to being “patient” on the timing of a rate hike in its policy statement. The  U.S. dollar index , which measures the greenback’s strength against a trade-weighted basket of six major currencies, was down 0.31% to 99.73, still close to Friday’s highs of 100.78, the strongest since September 2003.
